Disaster Recovery Plan
Since 2013 we have had the mandatory approval issued by the Ministry of Health for the transfer of complete Cryobiology Rooms in emergency conditions, if any unexpected catastrophic events occur.
24/7/365 availability
Legislative Decree no. 191 of 6 November 2007, in implementation of European Directive 2004/23/EC, provides for the possibility of an emergency service being provided by a Third Party in possession of a special approval issued by the Ministry of Health, capable of compensating for the temporary unavailability of laboratories and Cryobiology Rooms in case of unexpected catastrophic events.
This requirement is also established by standard ISO/DIS 20387, according to which “The biobank should establish a disaster protection plan with use of alternative safeguarding to avoid loss of biological material”.
Since 2013 Cryolab has been in possession of the mandatory approval, renewed periodically by the Italian Ministry of Health following inspections of its facilities at the Rome, Pavia and Vicenza sites.
The Disaster Recovery Plan service requires the activation of a facility available 24 hours a day, all year round, that guarantees:
- Special toll-free number;
- Team of technicians on call;
- Motor vehicles that comply with ADR directives and capable of transporting cryobiological containers;
- Real-time traceability of the temperatures of samples during transport;
- Permanently available backup Cryobiology Rooms.
